New Keeley TS-9 Mod Overdrive $209
As you know, the TS9 is a classic pedal in its own right. I am sure you will be very pleased with the tone of your new Moded TS9. Although the TS9 has a great tone to start with, this pedal is now the culmination of many ideas and modifications, and sounds indescribably better. Every component added is of the highest quality. There are metal film resistors in the circuit to improve the fidelity and reduce noise. Film capacitors are used in the tone section to provide the smoothest midrange and high frequency components to your tone while increasing the bass response of the pedal.
The choice in capacitor for the unique Tone Cap mod is to increase the lowend tone of your guitar without the slightest bit of muddiness or dullness to your tone. It is not a bass boost. The integrated circuit is changed to the TI RC4558P and the input transistor is changed to a MPSA18 to further reduce the noise floor and keep even this beast quiet as possible. This chip and transistor were chosen because it provides the best sound quality available combined with unmatched reduction in noise levels. A small change in the input impedance is made to allow your pickups to “breath” just a little better. This pedal has been modified to have the 3 times, XXX distortion. This allows you to more distortion and saturation in the higher setting of the control. All of the stock TS9 settings are possible throughout the midrange of the control. Plus, none of the singing sweet midrange tone is gone! Here are some sample settings. These samples are just ones that I enjoy. They are not meant to imitate anyone’s sound because I really hope you find your own! All Controls set at 1+/- O’clock, nice starting position, good biting drive and gain. Set the Level to 3 O’clock, Drive at 9 O’clock, tone anywhere that sounds good to you. This is a good clean boost and great for distorting the input of a tube amp. Set Drive to 4 O’clock and the Level to 12 O’clock. This is a super sustain setting. Great for lead work that is very saturated yet retains the essence of your guitar!
